Should I Start Yoga?
After my last political post I’m going back to normal for this one! I’ve recently started thinking about taking up yoga – everyone seems to go on about how good it is for you and I could definitely use some exercise. I’ve done it a couple of times so I’m under no illusion that it’s “easy” – I think I’d struggle with just a beginners course at the moment, but maybe I’m underestimating myself!
The main question is which type of yoga I want to do. I know a lot of people like the relaxing types of yoga, but I prefer the ones which give you a proper workout and really help with flexibility. I think in the long run these provide more benefit than the calmer ones – even though they probably sound a lot more tempting.
My local gym runs a lot of classes for people of all standards so I think that’s where I’ll start looking. I might even go in and visit one of the yoga teachers to see which ones type they recommend for me. I want to avoid the one where the room is heated to high temperatures – that doesn’t sound very pleasant and apparently it can be dangerous to some people! I’m sure I’d be fine, but best to stay on the safe side – at least while I’m starting out.
